
GE Shipping Acquires Secondhand Medium Range Tanker
The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (GE Shipping) announced on April 1, 2026, that it has contracted to purchase a secondhand Medium Range Tanker. The vessel, built in 2014, has a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of approximately 49,420. It is slated to join GE Shipping’s fleet in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027.The acquisition will be financed entirely through internal accruals and is aimed at expanding the company's fleet.
GE Shipping's current owned fleet consists of 40 vessels, comprised of 26 tankers and 14 dry bulk carriers, totaling 3.20 million dwt. The company's current capacity utilization is near 100%.
In addition to the tanker acquisition, GE Shipping has also contracted to purchase a secondhand Kamsarmax Dry Bulk Carrier, with the transaction anticipated to be completed in Q1 FY27.
