
Dredging Corporation of India Limited Announces 50th Anniversary, Expansion Roadmap, and ₹73,000 Crore Growth Target
Visakhapatnam, March 27, 2026: Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) marked its 50th anniversary, outlining an ambitious expansion roadmap and a target of ₹73,000 crore in growth. Established on March 29, 1976, as a Central Public Sector Enterprise, DCIL has played a significant role in India's port infrastructure and maritime development.Managing Director & CEO Capt. S Divakar highlighted the company’s growth trajectory, operational priorities, and long-term strategic roadmap during the Golden Jubilee celebrations.
DCIL's technical capacity has seen substantial growth, with hopper capacity increasing from 3,500 cubic metres to 12,000 cubic metres and dredging depth capability enhanced from 10-15 metres to up to 25 metres.
The company's financial performance has increased steadily, with revenue growing from ₹7,150 crore to ₹1,146 crore. The current order book stands at approximately ₹1,400 crore, with a target of ₹3,000 crore turnover within the next 5-10 years.
DCIL has strengthened its international presence with projects in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. The company handles nearly 80% of India's maintenance dredging, accounting for 110 million cubic metres out of the total 150 million cubic metres annually.
DCIL plans to induct 11 new dredgers, including high-capacity hopper dredgers, cutter suction dredgers, and specialised shallow-water and inland vessels. The company is collaborating with Indian shipyards such as Cochin Shipyard, Hindustan Shipyard, GRSE, Goa Shipyard, and BEML in support of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives.
To support growth, DCIL is focusing on a ₹71,000 crore equity raise via a rights issue, modernizing assets, and improving dredger productivity by 10-15%.
DCIL is exploring new business areas, including submarine cable trenching, offshore wind energy support, and inland waterways development.
