Government Engages Employee Bodies to Address Service Issues, Focus on Promotions and Reforms

New Delhi, March 22: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Sunday said the government is actively addressing service-related concerns of employees through structured dialogue and administrative reforms, highlighting that continuous engagement with staff representatives remains essential for improving efficiency and career progression.

Key Meeting with Employee Representatives

Chairing a meeting with delegations from major employee bodies, including the Government Employees National Confederation and the Central Secretariat Group-C Employees' Association, the minister reviewed a wide range of issues. Discussions focused on cadre restructuring, promotion policies, and overall service conditions across departments.

Representatives from organisations such as the Survey of India, ISRO, and India Post also took part in the deliberations, bringing forward sector-specific concerns.

Progress in Promotions and Cadre Management

During the interaction, employee representatives acknowledged the steps taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, particularly in streamlining cadre management and accelerating promotion processes.

They noted that more than 10,000 bulk promotions have been implemented in recent years, supported by the proactive role of the Department of Personnel and Training. These measures have helped reduce stagnation across several government services and improved career progression.

Pending Concerns Raised by Delegations

Despite the progress, employee bodies highlighted several unresolved issues. These included matters related to cadre restructuring, pay parity, allowances, and promotion opportunities, especially in departments such as the Survey of India and ISRO.

Concerns were also raised بشأن delays in implementation and the lack of uniformity in policies across departments, even as representatives acknowledged that promotion timelines have improved.

Government Assures Further Action

Responding to the concerns, Dr Jitendra Singh assured the delegations that all pending issues would be examined in coordination with the relevant departments. He stressed the need for better coordination, consistent follow-up, and a structured mechanism to ensure timely resolution of employee grievances.

Continued Dialogue to Strengthen Administration

The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to continue discussions, with both sides emphasising the importance of sustained engagement to resolve outstanding issues and further enhance administrative efficiency across government departments.
