Bharti Airtel Limited Receives Penalty Notice from Department of Telecommunications​

Bharti Airtel Limited announced that it received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in Madhya Pradesh on March 27, 2026. The notice concerns a penalty of Rs. 1,74,000 levied for alleged violations of subscriber verification norms.

According to the DoT, the penalty stems from a Customer Application Form (CAF) Audit conducted in January 2026, which indicated non-compliance with licensing terms and conditions related to subscriber verification. Bharti Airtel Limited is obligated to verify customers as per its license agreement and adhere to instructions from the DoT.

The company estimates the maximum financial impact to be the amount of the penalty levied. Bharti Airtel has opted to pay the penalty and will not contest the notice.
