
Bharat Heavy Electricals Receives Order for Telangana Thermal Power Project
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured a significant order from NTPC Limited for the 3x800 MW Telangana Stage-II supercritical thermal power project. The notification of award (NOA) was received on March 29, 2026, marking a key milestone for BHEL.BHEL emerged as the successful bidder for the project, located in Peddapalli, Telangana, following a bidding process that concluded in October 2024. A Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) was received in November 2024, initiating basic engineering work for the main plant package.
The order encompasses a comprehensive scope of work, including the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, commissioning, and testing of the main plant package, which includes the boiler, turbine, and generator. The project also includes associated civil and structural works. The contract was awarded through an International Competitive Bidding process.
The completion of facilities (COF) for the main plant package is slated within 62 months from the date of the NOA. The value of the order, excluding GST, exceeds Rs. 13,500 Crore.
Both BHEL and NTPC Limited are Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs). The transaction does not constitute a related party transaction.
