
Amagi Media Labs Limited Faces ₹2.06 Crore Tax Demand

The order, dated March 18, 2026, details a demand of ₹20,645,611.The demand comprises ₹11,216,603 in gross tax liability under Section 201(1) of the Income Tax Act, 1961, and ₹9,429,008 in interest under Section 201(1A) of the Act. The assessment relates to Financial Year 2019-20, where the company has been treated as an "assessee in default" for payments made to non-residents, classified as fees for technical services. The Income Tax Department contends that tax was not deducted at source under Section 195 of the Act.
Amagi Media Labs Limited is currently preparing an appeal against the demand order with the appellate authority. The company anticipates no operational impact from this matter. The financial impact is limited to the amount of the demand and associated interest.
